I moved into an older, pre-war apartment in February and have been battling German Roaches. I haven’t bought any furniture other than my bed, so the apartment is completely empty. I don’t have anything in my cabinets-all food is in glass jars on a metal bakers rack in the kitchen. I’m keeping trash in the freezer, and tossing it daily.

I have 30+ glue traps out, mostly around the radiator in my living room, under the fridge and around the radiator pipes in the kitchen, as this is where the glue traps are catching the most. I am seeing 2-3 new adults, and 2-3 new nymphs of all sizes on the glue traps daily. A few times a week I’ll see a live one on the walls or on the counter. My kitchen has a strong “roach” smell.

I have sprayed Alpine WSG + Gentrol under the fridge, under the stove, under the radiator, along the baseboards in the kitchen, around my front door and in my hallway closet. Advion Gel, then Advion Evolution behind the fridge, behind the stove, inside the stove knobs, in cabinet hinges. I haven’t seen any reduction in activity.

A local pest control company quoted me $1,500 to come and dust my wall voids and “seal” my apartment, described as caulking around pipes and cracks in the baseboard. Is this worth it? Am I spraying the Alpine in the wrong places? I think the bait isn’t having much effect because I have a light infestation. Help!
