Does this look like a flattened roach? Found on my entryway shelf. Philly, PA
Found this guy flattened in a space where I keep books.
Please god, let it be something random and not roaches.

Found a baby roach in kitchen and bathroom for a total of two a few weeks ago. Treated area with Alpine. Found a baby crawling on stove and 5 dead ones under sink yesterday.
New condo to us. Was completely empty when we moved in all new furniture. (Fl)
Never have seen adult.
We did a more thorough job spraying today. Moving appliances away from walls.
Next things to do or look for…
Just moved into studio 2 weeks ago. I saw first roach 8/11 2am. Put out glue trap by the shower/toilet. Saw nymph on 8/13 11pm, immediately put out CombatMax Bait and left for a few days. Came back 8/15 9pm to two dead ones (nymph and adult, pictured here) and one live baby. Didn't see any until 2am today, one baby.
Sightings only in the bathroom, nothing found in glue trap or kitchen/rest of studio.
Pest control was here 2 hours ago and said photo was of oriental cockroach??
He put IGR disk and Vendetta Gel Bait under bathroom sink and sprayed residual (unsure brand) around br and kitchen.
I just found this subreddit + read the sticky but unsure how to proceed following that visit. 1) These are German roaches right??? 2) Is this considered sporadic activity? 3) If so, should I still spray Alpine WSG, or is his treatment good for time being? 4) Any other suggestions for how to move forward and improve my current set-up so this won't escalate further
(also any tips on how to put my mind at ease would be great as well lol...)
Thanks everyone.
Found indoors in Germany (Bavaria), in my apartment. About 10 mm long. I can’t see the two black stripes behind the head that German cockroaches usually have. Could this be an amber wood cockroach instead?
I found this by the kitchen sink but it ran after I tried to grab it.
My dad found 7 hatched, old egg cases in my wardrobe drawer slots about 8 weeks ago. The roaches only started appearing 11 weeks ago (about 3 months). I've found a total of 7 hatched egg cases in my room and 7 unhatched. Total 14 egg cases. How the hell does that happen? I only started noticing them at night 3 months ago. I've put out bait since then and they started dying. They come back again sometimes, I'm guessing they came from other unnoticed new egg cases. I'm on edge. Is there anything unusual or is this how roaches work? I haven't seen any adults at all. Only babies in my room. How did all 7 of them hatch and go unnoticed for so long? As of now there haven't been any babies in 10 days in my room but I'm paranoid and they've started appearing around my house.
It started in march, I was seeing a lot of them daily. It slowly stopped completely in the kitchen after I sealed around the pipes.
They moved to the bathroom in June. I can’t seal anything in the bathroom due to how the sink and shower are placed. Then a family of big black spiders moved in and I think they ate most them tbh as I stopped seeing any by the end of June but I was seeing the spiders.
Then I did not see any at all until around 3 days ago, and I’ve found nymphs of different sizes in all rooms, I’d say a total of 7 within the last days.
Yes it’s an apartment, I’m aware they can travel between units but I want to prevent/stop them from infesting mine again.
I can’t use any of the products from the pinned post since I live in Europe and nothing besides advion is available. And the advion dries out within a few days plus I’ve never seen one eat it, they completely ignore it.
I don’t leave food or trash unsealed, I don’t leave dirty dishes after I eat, I use vents and leave windows open to avoid humidity. All cardboard has been thrown out already, and I’ve decluttered and cleaned any cabinet or furniture already. Whatever I own and don’t use has been sealed in airtight moving plastic boxes.
I’ve tried to use traps before but they didn’t catch even one, only the spiders. Placed them around appliances, behind furniture etc.
I used another bait (I think it was called magnum gel) which knocked out the population from the kitchen back in spring but now there aren’t enough to eat it and make a difference.
I feel like nothing works. I understand I will never permanently stop seeing any at all, but I don’t want them to make my house their home.
So any product, treatment recommendations would be greatly appreciated, especially from someone that has dealt with them in the EU since we don’t have access to most US products.
I have a big roach infestation! There is literally nothing we can do. I bought some of that gel (can't remember the name) and they're still appearing! It's gotten so bad that they're now appearing in my bedroom and more in the living room. I wonder if I can sue my apartment complex, or at least get some money off my rent because this is ridiculous! Also I move out in like 2 months anyway so I'm not sure if it should matter. Do y'all think I should sue my apartment complex or at least see if they could take some money off my rent?
Pics in comments!
I originally posted this a few days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/GermanRoaches/s/wBCV90r0Ky
But I have some significant updates.
My apartment complex has said this is a problem spread out over a 3 mile radius, and more than half the units have requested pest control. They were not able to get to my unit today so I have to wait until next Tuesday. I don't know how I'm going to make it.
But, most importantly, my complex claims these are Asian roaches, not German, and I'm not sure that's accurate.
They claim the Asian ones are attracted to light. But I noticed significantly increased activity when my power went out the other night. Keeping all of the lights on, everywhere, seems to decrease sightings. Then again, I had a lot of candles and a flashlight in my room when the power went out, and that was the only time I've seen them in my room.
I have noticed them primarily in my kitchen and near the doors. I'm too scared to open under my sink because I suspect that's where they're hiding. But I haven't - so far - noticed any in my pantry or trash or on my countertops.
I've seen them almost exclusively on the floor, with the exception that I've seen two in my kitchen sink, one on my bedroom doorframe that I think crawled through there because I had a towel under the door, and one that was on the floor that seemed to jump or fly about 8 inches up the wall then continued to climb.
With these behavior descriptions are you able to discern the likelihood of German vs Asian? I can try to get photos from my traps. I'll be honest I immediately squish every one of them I see crawling around.
ive been seeing roaches more and more often in my car but only during the night. I keep my car very clean and have no food/trash in my car. What could be the cause? what type of roach is this? Should i be worried? I live in central Florida close to a lake if that affects it any
Moved into a really shitty apartment 6 weeks ago and so far no pests, however this past week my downstairs neighbor moved out and mice and bugs have started coming into my apartment. I noticed a baby roach (super tiny but have had roaches before and it looked like it to me) on the ground earlier in the night and this was in my bathroom just now. It looks like a roach to me but I haven’t had this kind before. Please help 😩🙏
What does a bottle of Tekko Pro look like? I am trying to find out if I received a real bottle of Tekko Pro.
I received a bottle with one opening at a 45 degree angle. It looks similar to the one on the Control Solutions web site in pic 1 except it is translucent.
It looks just like the bottle in pic 2 except the openings are not wrapped.
But in every other picture of Tekko Pro that I've seen, the bottle has two openings pointing up like in pic 3.
Thank you for your help.
I just noticed a concerning amount of dead bugs on my floor near my fridge/my cats water bowl, which leads me to believe these may be dead fleas but that doesn't make sense because I haven't given my cats any flea treatments to help with their fleas yet. My apartment has roaches I'm trying to deal with, so this concerns me...
They're SO small, like ballpoint pen tip small. I had to get on my knees just to notice they were bugs, I thought one of my cats spilt some food or something. I took some other pictures but it's so hard to get my phone camera to focus.
Any ID would be so appreciated I'm scared 🙏
I’ve lived in my apartment for over two years and just saw a roach for the first time. I live in southern Maine. Help.
Lived in this house for about a year. Lived in is a little extreme. All my stuff is here and I sleep here, I’m rarely actually here. Work is insane lol. Anyways, got to cooking for the first time in a long time and discovered I have a nest of these little pests. My roommate moved out a few months ago and I never really went in their room because why would I. Well I went and looked in their room and good lord. It’s a disaster. Trash and everything messy. That’s why there’s an infestation I suppose. I can’t find the spray everyone is talking about here (Texas) what else works to get rid of these? I’m going to work on cleaning that disaster but in the meantime what can I do?
Can anyone confirm that these are not German roach nymphs? Google Lens is saying they resemble some type of wood roach or outdoor roach nymph. But I’d like confirmation as I don’t trust the AI lens.
It’s very small, i just zoomed in. Lived here for 4.5 months without seeing anything, however now i have see 2-3 of these over the last couple weeks (in bathroom). Freaking tf out bc our baby is due in a week and i do NOT need this right now. Just got whole nursery set up
Hi all- We killed what looked like a roach in the kitchen a few days ago. Smashed it too quick to get any ID on it so set up some sticky traps around the kitchen and adjacent rooms. It’s been 3 days and now we caught this. Chat GPT says likely German cockroach but admittedly isn’t completely sure which has me freaking out but google images/AI says it is 100% not a German roach and likely oriental or wood.
I’ve been looking through images of nymphs for the different kinds but just don’t know. Thoughts?
I am moving from a rental that we found out had previous bad roach infestation. It was treated and the landlord thought they were all gone before re-renting. However, we ended up seeing one and were able to finagle out of our lease after a month and a half of living there.
I should’ve followed my gut because I was going to move things to a storage unit, but we put out baits and pest control came once while we were there to spray and hadn’t seen any. We’ve got most of our stuff into the new apartment over the last few days and I put Hot Shot Ultra Liquid baits near all of the things we moved in (9 baits in total in a little over 900 sq ft) to hopefully nip any hitchhikers in the bud. However, last night a roach was in the hallway in our new place. I wish I had gotten a picture to ID but I did not. We shone a light on it to see it better and it barely moved forward, making disposing of it easy. I put in a maintenance ticket with the new place to see if pest control could come out. Waiting to hear back.
A few questions:
How concerned should I be that I am about to start an infestation where I just moved? I’ve only seen the one. We have not started unpacking but I tried to look around the boxes and haven’t found roach corpses.
Is going ahead and starting an Alpine WSG treatment regiment overboard or should I wait to see what pest control does?
I have not moved big furniture, such as beds, couch, washer, dryer, and some bookcases. What would be the best approach to making sure I’m not bringing more over with them?
Any tips, guidance, or reassurance not in the sticky is also greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
