Does anyone have any information about the protests in Akola today?

We were travelling from Mumbai to Akola today, and as we reached the Akola outskirts, a few people stopped us and advised us not to proceed. We also noticed several vehicles turning back. When we asked whether the roads were actually closed, they told us that all routes ahead were blocked and that no one was being allowed to pass due to ongoing protests connected to events in Delhi.

Can anyone in or around Akola confirm the current situation?
