Internal opportunity in my department: should I go for it?
Hey everyone, looking for some career advice.
A position just opened up in my department that honestly feels like my dream job. I’ve been with my current manager/team for about 9 months, and I’ve been at the company for around 2 years total.
I’m really interested in applying, but I’m worried it might look bad to my manager since I haven’t been on his team for that long yet. At the same time, I don’t want to miss an opportunity that could really align with my long-term goals.
Would you bring it up directly with your manager first? How would you approach the conversation without making it seem like you’re trying to leave the team too quickly?
Would appreciate any honest advice or experiences from people who’ve been in a similar situation.
