Moving with 2 cats but im frustrated with my gfs dad
So my gf took over the cats from her sister like 5 months ago. Before that they never went to the vet etc. but when she got them (she doesnt have a job) she immediately took them to the vet for a regular check up. And I think that already proves how much she cares about them.
So now they are moving and it wasnt planed that the cats would come with them but now its fine. The thing is the Dads gf also has a cat which is 18 years old and blind. The two cats my gf has are really calm etc. so i wont see a problem with having them around the old cat. But they both think it will be the end of the world. So now they want them to be separated until the old cat dies and until the 2 cats stop scratching on the wall (what they already did but the dad is really "strict" about it).But until then the 2 cats only have 1 room (its the biggest room but its not much bigger than the others) and like max. 1m of the hallway.
Even then when the cat dies and they dont scratch on the wall anymore they can only go into 3 rooms and the whole hallway (which is like max. 5m in length) and they cant go to the kitchen. My gf and i tried to argue against them and tried to find a solution for this but they are just too ignorant for it. My gf even tried to explain to her dad that its kind of animal abuse because of such small space for 2 cats. They cant even have climbing chances for the wall because the dad is to scared that they will scratch the walls (my gf even said she will renovated to whole room herself if they do that) he even wants my gf to use a spray bottle with water so they stop (which they already did...). My gf says if it doesnt get better she will move out but she doesnt have any money as said before so she would need to get some jobs and then search for an apartment.
To be honest im just mad and frustrated and would like some advice what we could try to do.
