How long will my mom live?
My mom was diagnosed last year with Stage 3 breast cancer. It started with a lump on her breast. Due to a trauma we experienced with my grandmother who had lung cancer, she avoided any treatment/doctor’s treatment etc and did holistic alternative medicines. We just learned about the situation when she started bleeding on her breasts. We asked her to do chemo/biopsy whatsoever but she didn’t want to. Back to present, she cannot walk/stand, difficult in breathing and needs oxygen, and speaking, basically, needs a lot of assistance. She is also in great pain and had a hard time cleaning her wounds, but she won’t let me clean it for her. We went to the doctor and they said she is already in Stage 4. They did not discuss any treatment yet as they wanted my mom to have a PET scan and biopsy first to know what kind of breast cancer she has for the treatment. I have been looking for the earliest schedule for her to have a PET scan and found one. The problem is, she cannot walk nor breathe without oxygen. We were considering to bring her thru ambulance but it doesn’t cover my insurance. She also needed to be cleared by the nephrologist first for her to undergo a PET scan, plus pre-medicines as she’s allergic to some medicines plus a history of hyper/hypothyroidism.
I don’t know what to do really and I don’t know if I have the right flair as my mind has a lot of things to think about and seeing her makes me think that she is dying. I want to ask for anecdotes, I guess, for us to be prepared. I just don’t know what to do. Thank you.
