Why is Distance S more important than Style S?

Usually when I see posts of people asking why their Uma doesn't perform well, I see a lot of comments that attribute it to a lack of Distance S, along with a lack of midgame and green skills. Why is Style S not prioritized as much? Do they buff different things?

Side question: does this apply to the skills too, like "Mile Corners" and "Pace Chaser Corners" for a Pace Chaser Uma? Are Distance Corners and Straightaways more effective than Style Corners and Straightaways?

Would I be able to cast a Sorcery on someone else's turn via miracle 2 if I topdeck it with Lorehold's first ability?

For example, if I draw an [[Ultima]] at the beginning of someone else's upkeep, could I cast it on the spot and end the turn, assuming I have the mana?
