Scalpers eat your heart out.

Found these yesterday! First time in years I’ve seen my target stocked with Pokemon cards! I was genuinely shocked!

I knew there was a new release but figured they’d be sold out by the time I got off work, imagine my surprise to see them on the shelves at 7:30 pm. I wasn’t even there for Pokemon lol

They must’ve just put them out on the shelf because by the time me and my girlfriend grabbed what we wanted we were surrounded by a bunch of, presumably, scalpers.

They were vocally annoyed we got stuff and several people were watching us as we walked to check out. By the time we paid the entire shelf was cleared minus a couple tins.

We pulled a bunch of cards we really wanted and it was really great to get to do this with my girlfriend after we both had a really hard week. It was really nice to see her excited :)

Edit: I’m genuinely surprised by how negative the comments are being here. I’m not entirely sure what it was about this post that pissed a lot of you off.

A lot of you seem to be under the impression that I bought most/all of what was in the shelves. I didn’t. I bought 2 Greninja boxes and a Clefairy tin for my brother. As someone who hasn’t seen Pokemon on store shelves/at MSRP where I live for over 2 years, I have zero desire to contribute to the issue. I love collecting and this was certainly a highlight to an overall awful week but had I seen a kid who wasn’t able to get something before the shelves were cleared I would’ve happily given them what I had in a heart beat. A kid getting to experience the fun I had at their age is far more important than anything else revolving around this hobby imo.

The shelves were emptied by the time I got to the check out stand directly across from the cards. It took, at most, 45 seconds. I’m not saying everyone that got stuff were scalpers, but the people that were verbally frustrated and glared at me for having 2 boxes and a tin while they were actively holding way more than me most certainly didn’t give off the impression that they were collectors and in it for the love of the game.

For everyone saying nobody is scalping Chaos Rising, nearly everything revolving around this set is being resold for 40-55% above MSRP. I’ll admit that’s not as bad as it has been in the past but let’s get real, there’s no good reason for a $26 booster bundle to be resold for $40-$45. Let’s not pretend that just because it’s not as bad as it has been for some of the previous sets means being overcharged by 40-55% is a good thing.

I had a bad week and this was the highlight of it. I finally found a set I wanted in person and only managed to do that by accidentally being in the right place at the right time a few seconds before everyone else showed up and bought everything. I was excited and wanted to share. That’s it. I wasn’t trying to piss everyone off.

I have enough resources to open 10 packs. Any recommendations?

I took a long break shortly after triumphant light and am just now getting back into the game. Sufficive to say I’m missing quite a lot of cards now. I have enough resources to open 10 packs. Any recommendations on what to open so I may have a fighting chance at the game?
