How come christanity in the USA feels more like a "Manifest destiny Propaganda" rather than a genuine belief coming from human Hearts?

Hey)

I am from Europe with Slavic ethnicity. My Family is Christian and believes in God. They treat it as a Personal belief and as a pathway to become a better human. Occassionally visiting churches to show gratitude towards their God. It feels human and personal, and I see it beyond my family Here in Europe.

When I See how christanity is working in the USA it feels Not human. Atleast from what I Heard or Seen. I have seen people being shamed for Not Reading the bible as if its some homework. In churches themselves I dont really see people actually Reading the teachings of god - but rather telling people the entire time how great He is. Ik the USA has the entire "Manifest destiny" Thing and as Somebody Not from there it feels like christanity is being Used as a way to just brainwash people more into this "we are the Chosen ones" Idea rather than giving people a space & Community to find Peace within their belief.

It May be that I have Had only the wrong notion of it all, since im obviously Not from there.

Id be curious about peoples perspective on it and maybe get an insight from the Christians of the USA))
