What's the Camry paint situation?

I'm considering joining the Toyota family later this year via a 2026 Camry XSE. I'm running out of reasons to not love this car, but there's just one claim that keeps popping up here and there that's bugging me: the easily chipping paint. According to some posts, the paint is fragile enough to the point of some voices I've seen call it a recallable defect.

What's the real story here? Is the paint really that bad to make some aftermarket paint protection worth considering? Or is this just a case of Reddit being Reddit, and the paint is no better or worse than any other car?
