I’m trying to cancel my 2026–2027 housing contract because it’ll be my last year and I’m expected to graduate during Winter quarter. I only need 8 courses left, and after during my term plan for the fall, I found out I’ll only have classes two days a week, so commuting makes way more sense financially.
The problem is that housing told me that since we’re already in the third cancellation tier, I would still be responsible for the full academic year unless I find an eligible replacement resident.
I wanted to cancel earlier, but I genuinely couldn’t confirm my Fall schedule until the class offerings were finally posted.
Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Were you able to get an exception, appeal the decision, or find another option? Also, if you couldn’t find a replacement resident and still had to pay, were you at least allowed to continue living in the apartment?
Any advice or experiences would really help 😭
