My Buddy is a yard kitty who actually kind of likes this bike.

Hi. I see that my difficulty is pretty minor compared to some of the things here so if the sub deems it I can understand this post being deleted.
In a little more than 6 mos I've gone from couldn't care much less about cats to being my Buddy's person. Buddy is a yard cat. Likely been outside most if not all of his life. Successfully. I don't know if he qualifies as stray or feral if it even matters. Wandering cats have long used my little complex's courtyard as a roadway while mostly avoiding human contact. Then Buddy showed up. Somehow, some way we clicked - I am smitten & I believe he loves me as much as the food. Yes I'm a cat ignoramus but I can see that he is close to a perfect outside cat survivor. Many things he does amaze me.
Petting and stroking and rubbing and eating out of my hand happen. We play and he wants to get a little rougher. I know its affection not aggression but those teeth and claws are sharp and while my hands are still pretty quick I am old and not as tough as I used to be - they sometimes hurt.
I made the mistake of mentioning it to her and now my wife is worried about "Cat Scatch Fever." Maybe I should be too.
Here is my main reason for this post besides bragging on my Buddy...
Is there some kind of generally protective vaccine or medication for cat borne diseases that I could take? Other than a receptionist at a vet's suggestion of an abbreviated rabies series?
TIA
