Model 1894 made in 1898

I recently received a few Winchesters from my grandfather. This one is chambered in 32-40 and was made in 1896. Not in the best condition but it looks like it has a bone or ivory front sight. Was this normal for the time period? What is a rifle like this worth these days (not looking to sell, just curious)? I also used some collectors long term oil on the metal, any recommendations on what to use on the wood or just leave it. Thank you!

Edit: After a serial number lookup it was made in 1896.

Been looking at comps and ported barrels. Being in IL can’t have a threaded barrel and done want to buy a new slide and barrel. Stumbled across this for $90. Has anyone tried it or is it too good for the price. If I do get one will I need to change the recoil spring? Thank you for the help!
