Relieved, excited and self conscious all in one

Hi, I'm new (f41)

So I have ADHD. It was excruciatingly obvious to me recently, probably brought on more strongly by menopause. I still suspect I may land somewhere on the autism spectrum as well but I haven't officially done that assessment yet although the referral is in the works. Sprinkle in a dash of potential mood disorder of some kind for a little razzle dazzle.

As the title says I'm relieved to finally have a diagnosis and that I'm working towards other diagnoses as well.

I am excited because treatment might actually make my life better. 🤞🏻 (My life's not bad but you know what I mea, it's frustrating at times.)

But here I am one day after being diagnosed and it's starting to hit me like a ton of bricks that there is officially "something wrong with me". Of course I don't think so negatively about anyone else who says they have ADHD or any other mental health issue for that matter. I'm just really self-conscious looking back at my life and wondering if people could tell something was "different" about me. And I'm looking ahead wondering how having this information will affect my personality and interactions with other people.

Oh and there's a couple of tics that I do that I've been able to hide from everyone my whole life. Today they have been very prominent. I think it's been months since last time I had them (mostly a jaw clenching, teeth grinding impulse). Has anyone had a flare up of this sort of thing after receiving a diagnosis?

I guess I just wanted to vent to folks who would understand and maybe receive some advice and encouraging words.
