Mango decided she needed to warm her butt after eating tonight. She also really likes to lay on the sensor for her thermostat. She also discovered that she can fit through the hole in that one hide while I was in the middle of planting her succulents & kept going back through it over & over, which was kinda funny.
So, in my previous post about the tank stand, I mentioned I was supposed to be getting a 2nd leopard gecko & her whole setup from a friend's co-worker. I was promised it was a good setup & was 40 gallons, so I trusted my friend & didn't ask for a picture of the setup(rlly rlly should've, ik) Words don't even describe how upset I am about the condition Mango came to me in. I would consider her a rescue considering what condition she was in before, but she's technically just a rehome.
• 20 gallon long for a fully grown leo(1st pic is how it came)
• Coil UVB
• Only 1 temp gage
• 3/4 of her hides are too small for her, one of which had a juvenile BLACK WIDOW living in it(3rd pic)
• Coco fiber for substrate, which was molded under the water dish
• Water dish that's not even considered a water dish bc it's so shallow
• Dead dubia roaches just sitting in the substrate like they had been left to run loose in the setup
• Glass nasty as can be, I don't even wanna know what was on it tbh
• Scratchy fake plants that gave me a paper cut, which no doubt scratched her once or twice.
Overall disgusting setup & I fear I don't want to see what condition the other leo, 2 cresties, & beardies this woman owns are in. I've re-done it the best I can until I can get a bigger tank.(2nd pic) I was also wondering if it would be cheaper to just build a tank instead/how to even go about that. The other pics are Mango herself, just to show how she looks, she looks healthy from what I can tell, but I'll be trying to find a way to get her to a vet as soon as possible(nearest exotic vet to me is about 2 or more hours away & I don't have a working car at the moment so I'm also trying to find someone willing to take me all the way up there.)
Does anyone else's leo only use their cool hide as a bathroom, or is it just Sugar?? It's been her chosen potty spot since day 1. Never seen her use it for anything else, even after I clean it. (Picture of her has nothing to do with this, she's just cute)
