Need best value upgrade path for my current setup (1440p gaming)

Currently running this setup:
Monitor: LG 32GP850
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
Motherboard: Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1080 OC
RAM: 16GB DDR4
I mainly play at 1440p and want the best performance upgrade with minimum investment instead of building a whole new AM5 system right now.
Since my motherboard already supports Ryzen 5000 after BIOS update, I was thinking about:
upgrading CPU first to Ryzen 5600 / 5700X3D
then later upgrading GPU from used market
Questions:
What would give me the biggest real-world FPS uplift for the money?
Is Ryzen 5600 enough or should I stretch to 5700X3D?
Which used GPUs are best value in 2026 for 1440p gaming?
Should I keep the GTX 1080 a little longer and upgrade CPU first?
What GPU would pair best without overspending on this platform?
I’m looking mainly for:
value for money
smooth 1440p experience
avoiding unnecessary platform upgrade costs
From what I’ve researched, many people say the Ryzen 5600 is the sweet spot for AM4 upgrades and the 5600X gives almost no difference.
Some users also mentioned that at 1440p the GPU matters more unless playing highly competitive CPU-heavy games.
Would appreciate recommendations especially from people who upgraded from a 2600X + GTX 1080 setup.
