So the title says it all : I’ve recently been feeling vaginal pain during sexual intercourse (talking about penetration here). I wanted to know if it was common for trans men with a vag on HRT, and if it could be a result of it.
For info, I’m in my twenties, 3 years on T, levels are supposedly good since last blood test, no STD. I’ve had perineal pain at the beginning of my medical transition that lasted about 2 years, and was most likely due to my body adjusting to the hormonal traitement. But no vaginismus or specific stuff affecting my vag. The pain is similar in how it feels to what I’ve felt during my “first time” but more intense and I can’t quite go through with it tho. Once it’s in it lessens a bit, but it’s not pleasant to go in it in the first place because of the pain. It has been going on for about 2-3 weeks.
I’ve heard about vaginal atrophy, and my first hypothesis is that it could be that ? But I have the belief that it would have happened much later. Or I’m developing vaginismus, but I don’t know what would’ve caused it. I’ve also been taking an antidepressant (Trintellix) so maybe it’s a side effect ? I know it’s quite common for antidepressants to cause sexual dysfunction and decrease libido, but I don’t think there’s anything affecting the physiology of the organ itself.
Do you share any related experience of this kind of pain ? And yes, I’m going to see a medical professional about it.
