First dates and politics

35M. I've been in a small group with a 37F for a few years and while we're not super close, I feel like I click with her personality pretty well.

However, I'm concerned that her politics might be incompatible with mine. Granted, it was a brief remark, and it was also late last year and a lot of things have happened since then in the US so it's possible her stance might have changed.

I'm concerned about the blowback if it doesn't work out and really don't want to try and find another small group given that the one I'm in works and that at this age it's hard to find. I worry that a first date might end in one or both of us choosing not to move forward. "I like you, but our politics are incompatible and thus I don't want to move forward" might offend someone, especially coming from the guy who presumably asked on a date.

So given that, do I even try? I know given our ages I can't sit around and wait forever, either in asking her out or in asking other women out.

(Note: I'm sure my politics can be inferred from past posts, but I don't want to make this a political post).
