Lantern flies everywhere

Hello! My parents have a 12 foot tall toh tree. I was planning on hacking and squirting in the fall. My main issue is it is covered in spotted lanternflies right now, and I mean covered. They are very large and very scary and I can only spray the ones I can reach with dish soap and water and WD-40. They also fly at me and Im traumatized by it. How do I deal with them without burning the tree down and endangering my parents property? I’m currently resting inside after being bombarded by them flying at me after a long wet dish soap dollar store spray bottle frenzy. Did I mention the very big bugs flew at me? I’m a grown man with back issues and I screamed in a pitch I didn’t know I was capable of.

Walmart gave the kid very long legs.

I found a neglected tiger (?) aloe in my local Walmart, very dehydrated, fighting for its life, the usual. I say okay, I’ve never taken care of an aloe before. Let’s be the parent that steps up. I get a succulent mix potting soil, a pot a couple of sizes larger, and the aloe. I take it out. Oh, okay! It’s kind of rootbound, cool vine-like roots though. I shake it gently in room temperature water to free the roots to put them in the new soil. Then I pull it out. And keep pulling. And so on. And what the hell do I do with this many roots. Is my pot big enough?? Do I behead it???

Cheap LED grow light boards?

I’m looking for a cheap LED grow light, but for some reason I have a very specific format in my head for it to be rectangular, rather than the bulb format. If anyone has any products on hand that’d be appreciated 🙏 Right now I’m getting by with a thrifted aerogarden base I hacked to work without the hydroponic portion, but I’d like to expand.

Hello! This is my first post, but I’ve gotten really into gardening lately. I was wondering if it was possible to grow Murasaki sweet potatoes (purple sweet potatoes), which like a slightly warmer climate, in my zone (6b). The website says it’s possible but they seem to prefer climates more in tune to the south. I am about to get the slips within the next week as they were just shipped and I am going to direct seed them. I would also like some general advice on how to raise them healthily. I am planning on starting to mounding them once they’ve gotten to 6-8 inches, but I’m not sure how much I should mound or if I should cover leaf sets. I’m assuming they prefer a little less water to prevent root rot in a sandy loam and full sun so the vines can spread. Also, I’ve heard some people say wait until the plant dies to harvest. Thank you.
