Scary!
Neighbors.
Wild that once you know they are all you see!
Taking over is an understatement.
I feel like I am picking the seedlings at 100 a day from my place at this point.

Bremerton, WA. At the gym. There are a few more that look like this growing in these blackberry bushes, and an even larger one growing up along the side of the adjacent business.
Is it… ?
And if it is, do I tell the gym owners?
Just saw this a few minutes ago when I walked out in the backyard. This is my neighbor’s tree hanging over my fence. I haven’t done any research besides a google image search to find out it is a TOH and these are spotted lantern fly nymphs…. so I’ll be reading this sub + r/invasivespecies after work tonight.
But for now, just wanted to share how absolutely WILD this is. My skin is still crawling. And I guess I’m also looking for reassurance that I don’t need to panic? Can I wait until this weekend to knock on the neighbor’s door to talk about removal?
Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of chemical to use? There seem to be many options but I'm a beginner and unsure what to go with. My yard in North Jersey has a cluster of "long and skinny" trees of heaven (around 3 inches in diameter).
For tiny ones popping up on my lawn, will regular mowing just do the trick or should chemicals also be used there?
Has anyone heard of local government or environmental organizations removing tree of heaven from public areas like abandoned buildings, fields, parks, or even residential homes? I’m trying to start something in my area. My city is majorly infected.
In 2016 I moved into my house. It had a nice tropical wild look in the backyard.
Right here I was standing next to a tree of heaven and didn’t know what it was. They were about three or four nearby and I didn’t know what they were either. In Covid, because I was forced to be at home I decided to start chopping trees.
Little did I know that I was making the most invasive tree in the world extremely angry and the roots started expanding underground and slowly poisoning everything in my yard.
I found hundreds of feet, maybe thousands of feet worth of a root network spread all over an entire acre. I have gone through 4 gallons of Triclopyr. I’ve hit Stumps, I’ve dug many holes, I’ve dug ditches and trenches, I’ve hauled axes and mauls
People think i am crazy. But I have carpal tunnel in both hands, pulled a muscle in my back from the ax, not able to play golf as much anymore. This really feels like David versus Goliath.
I will say, I have seen a lot of progress. You’ll need plenty of Remedy, shovels, axe, glysophate, a Ho and small shovel. GOOD LUCK
Only learned about these guys about a day ago, and it's growing in a place I can't easily access (between cement and wood). I've already reported it to the invasive species tracker site (I'm in Canada). On the other side of the wood, there's some leeks and onions growing that I'd rather not harm, but I'm assuming I can't leave this thing growing. 😭
We bought the house in early spring before everything grew in. Found out what they were and then this sub. I’ve been using an uprooter to remove everything popping up on our side but think I need to kill these.
The city Forestry Projects Manager said she wished there was a bounty on them but unfortunately there wasn’t anything they could do. Wanting to take matters into my own hands. Is this too big of an undertaking for someone with no experience? Should I focus on the large mature one or just go Rambo on them?
Yall see these baby tree of heavens on my neighbors lawn. General questions:
remove it.
in their mailbox
I don’t want to be a Karen. But I also don’t want to move.
I thought id be able to tackle this horrible tree in/ around my property, but the more i look around, the more i see it. 4 very mature trees around the neighborhood. I don’t think i can win this fight. 2nd pic is my backyard with them just off my property
My neighbor about 5ft away has a whole farm of tree of heavens growing. Are these little suckers? Several of these pop up daily
1 quart for 29.99 from Amazon was the best I could find. We will see how far it goes.
Not sure if the terminology is correct.... I have a grove of about 10 or so TOH trees I hand not identified until last fall. The tallest is about 12 feet or so and is about 4-6 inches around at the trunk. I had never noticed any suckers popping up, however last fall once I identified the trees I applied triclopyr and had really good success, almsot all that I sprayed appear to have died. This year I am getting a lot of suckers. I have recently sprayed them with Triclopyr as well. (they are only a couple inches tall) I am wandering if these are suckers that were sent out by the original trees I spray last fall or from seeds, or will I ever know? Last fall some of the tree were tall enough they had seeds showing on them.
