Parents who walk a lot. Wagon or stroller?

I have a four year old who will be starting full day pre- k this August. Her walk is 0.6 miles and it’s an 18 minute walk. I’m worried because she likes to stop and notice everything that it will take us so long to get to school and I’m debating getting a wagon. She has a two year old brother who I plan to walk to the park while she’s in school and that is another 12 minute walk each way.

Should I get an umbrella stroller for the two year old and have the four year old walk next to me or would a wagon make more sense? We are a one car family and my husband works far so we only use the car on weekends and don’t use a stroller for outings when mom and dad are both there.

I just moved and will be walking a lot to playdates, the park and school and I don’t know if at four I should expect her to walk more or if a wagon (which I’m leaning towards) makes more sense.

Please share any insight or advice. The problem is I would also need elevated seats on the wagon as my kids kick each other. We had borrowed a friends wagon for a month (radio flyer) and it did t work for us because they constantly kick each other. Only ones I see like that are a hit pricy so I don’t want to spend too much and regret it.

It would only be my daughter and I on our walks to school as my son will be with family.
