Has anyone used a satin varnish to protect their painted warhammer children minis?

I was going to buy the matt, buy then saw a few brands sold satin and was wondering what the finish would be like on a mini?

This is for for GWS plastic models. I would prefer a non-toxic as i will be in an enclosed space and would prefer not to have to mess about with mutiple applications if possible. This is for removing paint from a half painted 1000pt army Thanks
