New Apt — Move In Rituals + Cleansing
Hey everyone!
Moving into my new townhome today and I’m super excited to turn it into a grounded, protected sanctuary right from day one. I wanted to hop on here and ask for some advice, ideas, or favorite move-in rituals from fellow witches.
Right now, my plan is to do a full floor wash with vinegar, sea salt, and lemon peel, then smoke sweep counter-clockwise with palo santo and white sage before all the heavy furniture comes in.
For protection, I’m setting up an entryway grid using some black tourmaline at the base, two selenite wands framing the doorway, and a black obsidian disc I picked up in Mexico mounted near the threshold. I also brewed a threshold protection oil with olive oil, rosemary, black peppercorns, bay leaf, and lavender to trace protective symbols on the doorframes and window sills.
My altar is getting set up early to act as our main anchor. It holds my selenite slabs and towers, a black sphere, lapis lazuli, gem trees, dried rose offerings, and resin jars like dragon’s blood, frankincense, and myrrh. Then over at my desk, I’m keeping a piece of pyrite to keep the solar fire energy high for work and abundance.
Since today is also the New Moon, it feels like the ultimate blank slate for planting seeds and starting fresh. I’d love to know what plants you all rely on for warding or heavy grounding energy. I’m thinking about picking up a snake plant and a rosemary bush for near the entrance, but I’d love other indoor recommendations.
Also, are there any specific crystals you love pairing with tourmaline and selenite to make a home feel warm, rooted, and cozy rather than just sterile/airy? Lastly, if you have any favorite New Moon move-in practices, sigils, or traditional protection symbols you like to draw on thresholds or hide under doormats, please drop them below!
