Vitamin D and B12 concerns despite eating well and exercising every day?!
Title: Why am I concerned about my vitamin D and B12 despite eating well and exercising regularly?
I’m genuinely confused about this and would appreciate insights from people who’ve experienced something similar.
My diet includes:
3 whole eggs daily
Lots of milk, including high-protein milk
3 rotis made from high-protein atta (claims 46 g protein)
A 30 g protein bar
Other foods like rice, paneer and sabzi
I also work out regularly, walk often and do cardio. I’m not sedentary, and I try to maintain a reasonably healthy lifestyle.
My December 2025 blood results were:
Vitamin D: 44.4 ng/mL
Vitamin B12: 270 pg/mL
My vitamin D was in the sufficient range, but my B12 was toward the lower end of the lab range.
What confuses me is that I consume plenty of milk and eggs, exercise frequently, and generally eat a decent amount of food. Yet I still worry that something might be missing.
I usually sleep around 4–6 AM, although I try to get enough total sleep. I’m wondering whether my sleep timing, limited sunlight exposure, nutrient absorption, or something else could be relevant.
How can people with seemingly worse diets have better vitamin levels, while someone who eats reasonably well and exercises regularly can still have concerns about theirs?
Has anyone been in a similar situation and figured out what was actually going on? Was it sunlight exposure, absorption, diet, or something else?
I’d appreciate personal experiences and evidence-based advice.
