Raising kids & Cultural Differences

What’s something you teach your kids that is cultural? Not meaning traditions. I’m talking like the way you raise your kids.

Example:
I’m 28F. Mexican American. Oldest daughter. There was another thread on here asking about when to teach their kids how to do laundry. We were taught how to do our own laundry pretty early. Like 8-10 ish? My parents had 4 kids and worked weird shifts. We were alone some parts of the day like after school until they got home. So I had to learn how to cook pretty early for me and my little sisters. My older brother was no help. Simple things like scrambled eggs. Quesadillas. I would bake a lot in jr high simply because I loved it. Also had to clean and have homework done before I wanted to go out with friends etc in high school and jr high.

I just feel like these are essential skills but why are some of you doing everything for your kids? I have an almost 3 year old toddler. And this kid loves to help me cook. I also make him clean up his toys. And he likes to help me do laundry. I’ll be DAMNED if he grows up to be a guy who doesn’t know how to cook or clean. I am raising someone’s future husband. He will come helpful and correct. 💅

Feel like there is a lot of Mexican mothers who baby their sons and it’s true. My brother didn’t do half the shit I did as a girl growing up. Like the cooking and cleaning. But I refuse to raise my son as if he is incapable of doing chores and contributing.

Addendum:
Don’t know if cultural is the right wording. Maybe just amongst generations???
