Credit hassle from hell
So today I was going to purchase a laptop. I decided on HP and applied for and was approved for a HP credit account, with special financing options on purchases over a certain amount. I went through everything with the customer service Rep and was ready to checkout. When I tried to click on HP financing it took me back to the page to prequalify. I told the rep about this and they said well I wasn't approved then . I told them I was approved and accepted the offer and received the disclosures for the account from the bank via email. This rep still refused to be of any help to me, was snarky ,and I was transferred to someone else. Same song and dance literally all day. No help whatsoever. At one point I did do the prequalify page again and it verified I do have an account and what to select to checkout with my account. I told the reps this and they insisted it was a problem on my end after I cleared cache like they asked and the problem still persisted. I also called the bank and they verified yes I have an account and there is no issue with it. They tried to help me check out and verified it's a glitch on the HP site. After all that I just told HP never mind I would shop elsewhere and I called the bank back to close the account. I also requested that the hard inquiry and the account be removed from my file because I wasn't able to utilize it. They refused stating I opened the account and authorized the inquiry. So you mean to tell me that you think it's ok to put an inquiry on someone's report ( costs you points) , and open an account which lessens the amount of time you have credit history and not let them use the account? I'm beyond pissed and will be filing a complaint with the consumer protection agency because that is not fair reporting. I was never given any access to that account and it was opened for zero days and I requested it to be closed and removed. I'm not mildly infuriated I'm absolutely pissed. I did research and I know exactly what to put it on the complaints to the credit reporting agencies and the consumer protection agency to force them to remove it. Absolutely ridiculous. Now I have to waste more time talking to the three credit reporting agencies and the time to file the complaint with the consumer protection agency. Long story short but a computer elsewhere. FFS
