The bike was making noises so I assumed it was a loose chain, tried fitting it myself but couldn't lose the bolt so took it to the local garage they said the settings are on the last adjustment. So then took it to the service centre they said they have adjusted as much as they could but if the sound comes back again then I will have to change it (either chain or sprocket).

I can't remember right now where they said the chain needs to be changed or sprocket.. but anyways my concern is, is it normal for the chain/sprocket to go bad at just 11,000km? Asked some friends, they said chain/sprocket don't go bad so early and can last even 50,000km.

So what might be the issue? Bad quality or is it my riding style? Or lack of maintenance for the first 8,000km. I wasn't aware that the chain needs cleaning and lubrication every 700km so for the first 8000km I only cleaned and lubricated it like twice when I took it for service but after that every 700km.

And another thing is riding in such a condition bad and dangerous? I am sort of worried about the chain snapping in the middle riding and getting into a disaster (although the service guy said not to worry and that the chain won't snap suddenly while riding)..
