Getting my dad’s 2001 RX135 back after years. What all should I get checked?

My dad bought a Yamaha RX135 in 2001 and it’s been parked in our village since around 2019. I’m back home in Jaipur for my college break for about a month, so I asked him to get it back and it’s finally coming today.

I’ve ridden it whenever I visited the village every few months and it always felt fine, but it’s also the only bike I’ve ever ridden, so I honestly don’t know if it’s actually in good condition or if I just don’t know any better.

Since I’m only here for a month, I don’t want to spend a lot on it, but I do want to get all the basic mechanical stuff and maybe some aesthetic things done. What all should I get checked or replaced, and where should I take it in Jaipur? Any good mechanics for old RX135s?

Could anyone please suggest if dry denting would be possible in this case?

Dent on my New Seltos tailgate, maximum of the garage are suggesting touchup or full panel repaint.

Could anyone with experience suggest if dry denting can be done in this case?

Leg guard leaking?

i was taking out my bullet 350 reborn to go to office, and when i took it off its side stand and straightened it, there was some light-brown/light-orange fluid dripping from the leg guard. i didnt pay much mind to it, as id just washed the bike yesterday evening so i thought it'd be something i missed to clean. its viscosity was just like water, i touched it just to make sure it wasnt any oil or anything. when i parked the bike in the office parking, and put it on its side stand, the fluid dropped again. when i tried shaking the bike, the fluid kept coming out (not like a flow, but like a continuous string of drops). i dont have much mechanical experience, ive only recently brought the bike. i clean it myself, ive recently cleaned the chain (sprockets and everything) and changed the exhaust to a dolphin one and installed new mirrors. no tweaks with the engine. the road that i take to office has a slightly rough patch in between. please guide me through what this leakage could be, if its a serious issue, what things i should check for, etc. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Damaged car after maruti service

I brought my car at Maruti Suzuki authorized dealership for regular annual service at 01.45 pm last yesterday. But when I exited the gate at 7.06 pm I noticed damage to my right backlight induced by a strong hammer force.

Since this damage was done inside the Maruti Authorized service center, how to approach this case?

Ford Ecosport Thunder - Spinny

Hey guys,
Wanted to know if the pricing is right for this ES Thunder 2020 - 16k driven and Spinny is quoting 8.3L ( non-nego). I’ll be upgrading from a 2014 ES ecoboost to this and from test drive the car is in very good condition! Aware of service centre and parts availability fiasco but heart doesn’t move away from Ecosport.

How can I tighten bolts without knowing the torque?

My front wheel is misaligned due an recent accident, The forks are twisted & I want to loosen the bottom triple clamp bolts, the stem nut & axle nuts to pump the forks and see if the wheel comes back to it's original position.

The issue is that the manufacturer of my motorcycle does not state torque values for most of the bolts on my motorcycle aside from the rear & front axle.

They do seem to have an internal service manual for their employees only but I haven't even seen a torque wrench at their service center. I doubt they really tighten things to spec.

So how can I tighten my bolts without knowing the appropriate torque?

It's a '22 Hero Xpulse 200 4V.

Dent on New Kis Seltos

There is a minor dent on my new seltos, few local mechanic shops suggested full panel colour at around Rs 3500 - Rs 5000 (2k paint) and I am not willing to do full panel paint as the colour may not match as per my expectations. I tried looking to install a chrome garnish but that was not looking good.

Also few of the Garage also mentioned that dry denting won't be possible as there is no space. Not sure if that's the case.

Any other suggestions would be helpful?

Restoring 30 year old 2 stroke bike (Suzuki Samurai)

Hi. I'm a beginner at repairing motorcycles but I'm very passionate. Recently I got a 1995 Suzuki Samurai 100cc 2 stroke bike from my uncle. It hasn't run for 10 years. Today I did basic things like remove the fuel tank, take out the carburetor and clean it and check the spark plug. While removing the carburetor lower cover I accidentally bent the overflow valve(which was made of brass). I didn't take it as a big issue as I researched it for a while and figured out if there are no cracks and it doesn't touch the floaters it should be good. Then I sprayed some CarbKleaner on it let it soak assembled it and put it back on the bike.

As the fuel tank was entirely rusted I couldn't use it. I just wanted to see the engine come back to life. I took a syringe and put in approx 50-60ml petrol directly into the carb and put in 2ml 2T oil. I pulled the choke and kicked it. First few kicks it sounded like it wanted to start. Third kick a loud asf bang or pop sound was heard from the exhaust.

After that engine went back to just compressions no starting sound. Sorry for such a long post, I just wanted to know am I doing things right. I assumed the pop was just a backfire. Tomorrow i am thinking of setting up a diy fuel tank so that the carb can have some constant fuel.

Monsoon tree branch fell on car panel above number plate and broke!

What I feared the most happened! Its been 15 days since the car purchase and delivery from True Value.
Although the RC transfer procedure was started promptly by the showroom from the next day of sale, and I even got a validation call from rto, its still under process.
Today due to monsoon a tree branch fell on the car panel from back and it broke.
What are my options here?
I had asked the showroom to transfer the insurance to my name as RC transfer can take anywhere from 3-4 months, but they denied saying until RC transfer is done they cant transfer insurance.
Currently rc and insurance both are in showroom's name in parivahan app.

Second Update – Does a manufacturer or dealer need the owner's authorization before replacing an entire engine under warranty?

Yesterday I posted regarding the dealer's written statement that the old engine number plate would be used on the replacement engine. Thank you to everyone who shared their views.

Today I have another question.

My Tata Punch Pure Plus iCNG suffered an oil pump failure at approximately 253 km.

Before any major repair, I specifically informed the dealer in writing that no major repair or replacement should be carried out without my prior approval.

However, the dealer later confirmed in writing:

- "Whether engine replacement has been carried out – Yes."

- "Authorization is applicable if we are replacing any parts on paid basis."

This appears to mean that, according to the dealer, no owner authorization is required for a complete engine replacement if it is carried out under warranty.

My question is:

Is this actually the normal legal and industry practice in India? Can an authorised manufacturer or dealer replace an entire engine in a brand-new vehicle under warranty without first obtaining the owner's consent?

I have repeatedly requested Tata Motors to provide:

- the Root Cause Analysis (RCA),

- the complete technical investigation report,

- and the warranty policy or legal basis that permitted such a major replacement without my approval.

So far, I have not received a satisfactory written explanation.

This car was purchased especially for my marriage and the related family functions and shopping. Instead of enjoying my first new car, I have spent the past several months pursuing documents, government authorities, and trying to understand what actually happened.

I would appreciate views from automotive engineers, lawyers, service advisors, insurance professionals, and anyone who has dealt with a similar warranty engine replacement.

Dominar 400 not starting

Hey

So I have been encountering an issue with my dominar 400, 2018. It had been sitting idle for a few months as i commute through car, but i used to regularly go and start it up (every week or two). Since 2 months, it has stopped starting, and only makes the fuel injection sound with the ignition being light up, but it does not start. In between this, it did start for once or twice, but since then it does not.

I have no clue what to do in this and I dont think it is an issie of the fuel iniector

Please chexk the video attached to get a bit clarity if it provides any

I bought it used in 2024, so I have no clue if it is a battery issue. Anv advice would be appreciated as it is sitting in the basement and not quite possible to take it to a mechanic.

Note: Extra fuel has been added to check if it was due ta fuel. but it still does not start. The current fuel bar is at 3

Brand-new Tata Punch iCNG suffered engine failure at 253 km – Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hi everyone,

I own a Tata Punch Pure Plus iCNG and I'm looking for advice from fellow owners and automotive enthusiasts.

My brand-new car suffered a major engine failure at approximately 253 km. According to the authorised dealer, the oil pump failed, but instead of repairing it, they replaced the entire engine assembly under warranty.

What surprised me even more was that:

- I had instructed the dealer in writing not to perform any major repair or replacement without my approval, but the engine was replaced anyway.

- The dealer later stated in writing that the old engine number plate would be installed on the replacement engine.

- They also stated that no RTO or insurance compliance was required because the old engine number plate would continue to be used.

I have asked Tata Motors to explain:

- why the complete engine was replaced when only the oil pump reportedly failed;

- why my authorization was not obtained before replacing the engine;

- the basis for the engine number statement; and

- the Root Cause Analysis and technical investigation report.

I have not yet received a satisfactory explanation.

I would like to ask the community:

  1. Has anyone experienced a complete engine replacement on a brand-new Tata vehicle at such low mileage?

  2. Has anyone ever been told that the old engine number would continue to be used on a replacement engine?

  3. Is replacing an entire engine for an oil pump failure a common practice?

  4. What would you do if this happened to your brand-new vehicle?

I'm posting here to understand whether this is an isolated incident or whether others have had similar experiences.

Thank you.

Fuel mixing

If I mix 5L E20 petrol and 5L XP100 petrol, do I effectively get 10L of E10 blend?

We know we have observed drop in mileage, power etc using E20. But XP100 (0% Ethanol) is very expensive. If I mix these fuels let's say in ratios 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50, does it make sense? Both economically and health of the vehicle.

Has anyone tried it?

Buy or not ( tiguan elegance petrol)

Hey folks and ogs, is it worth buying used tiguan elegance.

I am looking at two options

Option 1. 2022 registered 36k mileage and costing me around 18lakhs. Second owner ( technically 1st, the car was on company lease and then transferred to the owner's name). Have small repaints like right side door

Option 2. 2023 jan registered 56k mileage and costing me around 20 lakhs. 1st owner, no repaints.

Which is the better option? Should I even buy a used one at this price point or go for a new one
