My father is currently in kidney failure and is scheduled for AV fistula surgery soon.
During the ultrasound of both arms, the surgeon could not find a suitable vein in the ideal spot of his non-dominant arm. As a result, the surgeon has suggested two options: placing the fistula in his non-dominant wrist or in his right forearm.
Do you have any suggestions which option might be more desirable?
I am seeking advice regarding a lump on my tongue that developed about a month ago. For context, I am a 42-year-old female in good health and a non-smoker/non-drinker. The lump has not changed in size or color, and it is not painful.
I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I started oral birth control (to skip my menstrual cycle) a few weeks prior to the lump appearing, but no other changes to diet or other medication.
I currently do not have health insurance due to a significant increase in premiums earlier this year. However, I am concerned about this and would like to know if this is something that requires an immediate in-person evaluation, or if it is likely to resolve on its own?
