Cosmo Zero - From the Depths

The Cosmo Zeros have been built; they are the fastest fighters I've built thus far (at 174 m/s) both Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 will quite happily sit on the Yamato's Catapults and launch without issue, they're load outs are good for large slow-moving targets, making them less suited for dogfights, although they can sort of still do it.

EDF Battlecruiser "Asteroid" - From the Depths

A ship based on a pair of Animation Errors, one from Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato, one from Yamato 2, I decided to make a distinction between the regular cruiser and this ship, so I gave the ship Dreadnought turrets. In terms of how the ship fits into the reboot, I thought it fit best in the post 2202 environment, when Earth moves away from the Wave Motion Gun fleet concept with the Andromeda's and Dreadnoughts as the main stars, according to Arizona's background around this time there is some opposition to new Battleships.

"After the war, the emigration ships were temporarily abandoned due to the use of the Time Fault, but with the formulation of the Fourth Defense Plan and the abandonment of the Time Fault, opposition to new battleships such as the Andromeda class grew, and the repurposing of old emigration ships was reconsidered as an alternative." - Arizona's Mechanical page

With Hyuga and especially Asuka classes being made post 2205 I imagine there would be a rather large spare Dreadnought turret pool to pull from, so I imagined this ship as hitting two birds with one stone, by using the dreadnought turrets you get a ship for cheap (since the turrets have already been made) with very heavy firepower, and since its classified as a battlecruiser it gets around the opposition to new battleships thing.

It's by no means a replacement for the Battleships, I wanted that distinction to be secured. While it has more firepower than a Dreadnought it has less utility its basically built for only a few things. it would have less aircraft (I imagine 10 fighters perhaps, although what type of aircraft can be swapped around depending on mission profile) and would have a weaker wave motion shield. These ships can be part of the main battle line or can be used in a fast mobile striking force depending on what the situation calls for. In short, this ship fills in a gap for earth, making use of existing material and a bit of maneuvering to get around the restrictions set in place to give the earth fleet a fast, heavy hitting ship. Similar to Meteor I specifically chose a neutral name for the ship since it's not a ship that belongs to a specific sector, just a ship built for the defense of earth in general.

I deliberately didn't take into account the ships performance in FTD since I don't think that's the right way to design a ship. I designed the ship around a niche role it could fill in the story of the reboot. It's far from perfect and I don't imagine many of these ships being built (probably in the single digits) This and Meteor are the only "Fanmade" ships I've made and both are based on the cruiser from the original series, with this ship being completed I have reached the end of the EDF ship stuff (until the show releases more ships) the rest is all Aircraft

New Cosmo Tiger II's - From the Depths

The Cosmo Tiger II's got a big rebuild, this rebuild was mostly focused on the internals and getting them to perform better. But there have been some fairly heavy external changes as well, the new version has stronger missiles and stronger guns.

There is also the ball turret version, for the purposes of gameplay I've catered the ball turret version for dog fights and the regular CTII is a general-purpose fighter. More versions will be made later. The new Cosmo Tiger II's are faster and smaller while retaining the same number of weapons as the older version, while they can hold their own sometimes, they are at their best when there is a ship nearby to assist them.

Unrelated miscellaneous doodles of Yamato, Arizona and a different take on a plane

Just some drawings done during my spare time, the 1st one is very far from complete, the 2nd is a take on an "Izumo Plan Arizona" and the 3rd one is a different take on the Cosmo Tiger 1.

EDF Heavy Cruiser - From the Depths

This was a class of ship that existed in the original series but was not included in the reboot. I personally quite liked the design and decided to do a take on it. When designing the ship, I aimed for it to be a cheaper alternative to the Dreadnought, a nice mid-level ship between the Patrol Cruisers and Dreadnoughts.

To do this I decided instead of the smaller triple barreled turrets usually mounted to the sides of these ships I would go for Dreadnought turrets, this would give the Heavy Cruiser a very similar firepower level to a dreadnought (if both ships are facing forward) add on the three large twin turrets and the Heavy Cruiser has around the same ish firepower as a Dreadnought, I tried to give a middle road advantage to the heavy cruiser without making the Dreadnought obsolete, gives the EDF a reason to build one ship over the other depending on the time. The Dreadnought, of course, boasts a stronger wave motion gun, better protection, and it can launch fighters, while the heavy cruiser doesn't have the same level of protection, its wave motion gun is weaker compared to the Dreadnought (but stronger than the Patrol cruisers) and she only has one hangar which can carry a very limited degree of aircraft, certainly not a full squadron of fighters. In the end, I had the ship be a neat fill-in for fleets, need the firepower of a dreadnought but cannot afford one? You build one of these, if you want more capabilities (aircraft squadron storage, stronger WMG, etc.); you don't build one of these.

For a name I landed upon "Meteor" I wanted a space themed neutral name for this ship, and Meteor seemed to fit, just as she is when I thought up of why the EDF would want one of these, she is cheaper than a Dreadnought in FTD (you can actually get Two Meteor class ships for the price of one Dreadnought in FTD) but of course, the ship is less protected than a Dreadnought and has a weaker WMG. Maneuverable, hard-hitting, fast & fairly cost-effective (by my standards anyway), Meteor is a neat alternative to the Dreadnought, while not being a replacement for it.

Wrapping up the Autonomous fleet, the Ajax class, while the Autonomous fleet in the show had around 49 vessels of this class to make up the Autonomous fleet, only 4-5 ships is needed for FTD. Gladiator makes up the armor and defense of the fleet while the Ajax class are the striking power of the fleet. With this ship done this is technically the last official earth ship from the reboot series that I needed to build, there is a ship past this that wasn't in the reboot (the heavy cruiser) that I will be building, but in terms of official ships that appeared in the reboot, Ajax was the last of them.

Took my From the Depths Yamato, did some very basic photo editing and made this, the background is drawn by me, Yamato had a few cosmetic alterations done for her to fit the scene, mostly related to lighting.

After several months of refits and rebuilds of older ships, I've at last caught up, and a new ship has been built. Introducing Gladiator. She is a surprisingly large ship (300 meters long, according to the 3199 program books, although she is larger in FTD like all the other ships I've made, Ajax being 180 meters long according to the same program book). Despite her size, she doesn't wield a lot of weapons, which, given her role as a command ship, commanding multiple Ajax class vessels, is perhaps not surprising.

A rather interesting gimmick she has is her Grenade Missile Launchers that pop up out of the hull. I was fully prepared for this system to not work, since the launchers would be firing missiles into each other because of the angle of the hull. However, instead, the missiles just passed through the other launcher, so everything worked out in the end.
