C204 and OR204
Sorry if I don't explain this very clearly, but I'll do my best. This is a question regarding Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate: Load Region of Déjà Vu.
Okabe mentions that C204 stands for Christina and the 204 is most likely a reference to the real-world John Titor whose time machine was also called C204.
In the Déjà Vu movie, Kurisu names her time machine OR204 with OR presumably standing for Okabe Rintaro while 204 remains the same. What I don't understand is this: when Suzuha travels to the past to save Okabe, she does not pretend to be John Titor because the SERN dystopia never exists on the Steins Gate world line. If Suzuha never becomes John Titor, why would Kurisu still keep the designation 204?
Even if Kurisu retained faint memories from previous world lines, I don't think she would intentionally name the machine after someone whose views she completely disagreed with.
While writing this, I kind of had a realization. Could it simply be 204 because Suzuha is the one piloting the time machine, effectively becoming the "John Titor" of that timeline by traveling to the past to save the future so that's why they both named it that? My brain kind of hurts now hahaha.
I also have another question.
In the visual novel, I remember Okabe mentioning that he playfully kissed her when they were in middle school. However, the movie seems to contradict this by making Kurisu the one who kisses him. Even if the Steins Gate world line is different from the Alpha or the original Beta world lines and childhood events could have changed, the ending still confuses me. Okabe asks Kurisu to "give back" his first kiss.
Shouldn't Reading Steiner preserve both sets of memories? Instead it feels as though Kurisu's kiss completely replaces the memory of Mayuri's kiss, rather than existing alongside it. Am I misunderstanding how Reading Steiner works or is this simply an inconsistency in the movie?
