Waifiest of waifs — got shut down
My elderly uBPD mother just got shot down at the ER and it was glorious. She convinced my brother to take her to the ER, for unclear reasons, so I asked him to conference me in so I know what the story is. The doctor says, “we’ve done all the tests we can do and everything is normal.” And he says she just needs to eat food, drink water and see her primary doctor. He was kind and direct. She acted like she wasn’t going to do those things and instead of consoling her he says, “well then you’d be back here and we’d force tubes down your throat and it is a horrible experience.” Her reply, “my husband died 6 months ago.” He didn’t miss a beat, “oh I’m sorry… ok you still need to do A, B and C.” Her response? “I don’t want to take care of myself anymore. I want someone to take care of me.” “Ma’am I’m just telling you to eat, drink, see your doctor.“ I nearly laughed out loud on speaker phone. wish I could hug him! (Note: every single thing is done for her.)
