Stargate shift workers?

Was considering the logistics of the SGC and concluded that an organisation like that would absolutely be running multiple shifts and be active 24/7.

But I then figured: most other worlds won’t have 24 hour days and most won’t be aligned with local Colorado time. I imagine exploration goes along the lines of: dial the gate, send the MALP, look at current conditions. Point camera at sky for a day or two and map out day length, season, local time zones. Then consult list of which SG team is on call for the current shift.

“Ok, P3X-3554 has an 18 hour day and it’s currently middle of the night there and 1630 hours here. Lets see… SG-8 has the late shift this month. Call Col Andrew’s and tell him he’s dialling out in 6 hours for the destinations early morning.“

SG-1 wasn’t just the flagship team, they were top of day shift so got all the good worlds where an 0900 departure coincides with local daylight! In reality, the roster was probably rotated so that SG-13 wasn’t always stuck doing 3am dial-outs. They’d have been constantly juggling everyone’s shifts and calendars to avoid gating to an unknown world in the dark.

How much "flex" to expect in a Surface Arc mouse? How good is the touch scrolling?

I recently purchased a Surface Pro 12, which I'm using for work as my portable device. It's working great and is much zippier than the aging Dell laptop they provided. We're all Office 365 and VPN at mey work, so I don't actually need to use their computer (though IT hates that I'm using my own device)

Some time before picking up the Surface Pro, I purchased a Surface Arc Mouse online and have used it intermittently. I have a feeling it's not a real Arc mouse, though. It was too cheap, it's missing the Microsoft logo at the base of the palm rest and underside, the touch/scrolling is really hit and miss and it seems to have just too much flex when using it. ie: when i rest my hand on the top and gently press down to move the mouse or click, the whole thing bends and flexes 3-5mm downwards. It's to the point that when I click with it, the whole thing kind of flexes and moves and I often end up clicking in the wrong spot, or a "click" turns into a "drag".

The problem is I've read reviews of the real Arc Mouse and I see some poeple report the touch pad is laggy and not super responsive, and most seem to say a little flex is to be expected.
Just trying to work out how many of my issues are a result of this probably being a cheap knock-off or if a real one would be just as bad.

I enjoy the portability and battery life of the mouse, and if it were a little more solid, I think I'd be happy with it, but I don't really want to spend $110-$150 to pick up the real thing if it's going to feel the same.

We have an AWTS system on our property connected to a surface irrigation drain field. This is NOT an underground septic leach field, it’s an aerated, disinfected septic that sends “cleaned” waste water to a network of surface sprinklers in a dedicated drain field. The waste- water is treated with aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, runs through multiple chambers in the tank and is ultimately disinfected with chlorine before being sent to the drain field sprinklers. It’s not drinkable by any measure but it’s cleaner than regular septic waste.

The field is approximately 30x30m of weed-choked grass with some immature trees scattered throughout. There’s a central  25mm purple mainline with 4x19mm spurs coming off it connected to round domed metal sprinklers. The sprinklers each cover maybe a 2-3m diameter area.

It works well, but with four people the areas covered by the sprinklers quickly become waterlogged. The 19mm sprinkler lines are lying loose on the ground and are designed to periodically be moved around the field to spread the water-load, but this is kind of a pain in the neck.

Additionally I’ve recently bought a robotic mower and I would like to have it run through the field regularly to get the grass looking neater. This will pose an issue for the surface lines.

I’m looking at ways to spread the waste-water around the drain field and protect hoses from the mower, minimising the need for manual intervention.

I tried replacing the sprinkler lines with purple 13mm drip irrigation but it blocked up in a matter of weeks.

My next thought is to splice a multi-outlet indexing valve into the line and then run multiple 25mm central lines off it, each with 3 or 4 x 19mm sprinkler lines. Essentially replicating the existing setup into multiple zones with a valve that will rotate between each zone each time the pump runs. I can then bury the 19mm lines a few cm below the soil to protect them from the mower.

Are there any obvious issues I haven’t thought of? The current lines and sprinklers work fine so adding additional identical zones should be okay. The indexing valve I’m looking at is explicitly designed for waste water distribution and features relatively large 35mm outlets so would hopefully not block up easily.

I’d like to replace the domed sprinklers with pop-up ones but the advice I’ve heard is they tend to block up or fail relatively easily, while the domes are almost bulletproof.
