Hi everyone,
I have a BMW 218i Active Tourer (F45) from 2015 with around 97,000 km.
I noticed a fairly loud squealing/whistling noise when releasing the clutch, right at the biting point. It’s loud enough to be heard from outside the car. There is no burning smell, no slipping feeling, and gears shift normally.
Does this sound like a worn release bearing (throwout bearing), or could it be something else like the clutch itself or dual mass flywheel?
Is it safe to keep driving like this for a while, or should I plan a clutch replacement soon?
Thanks!
