Opinion: Don't buy cosmetic infusions right now.
For years, many of the most valuable infusions were 6-10+k gold and played a big part in the duper-baron economy. Last year's Four Winds saw so many materials traded in that the capacity of the market to soak infusions finally got exceeded. Heading into the next 4W, infusion prices are dropping rapidly as people realise that they just can't get that massive payout any more and likely never will. All the big ticket infusions are basically -50% YOY right now, and every year through the secondary metrics we have available to us, 4W has seen more and more boxes exchanged. At this point, there's no reason to think this won't be exponentially larger than it's ever been after an already massive last year. Basically every material is at a long term low price, and we might see the interesting cosmetic infusions at a much more attainable price than they have ever been within the next year.
Worst case, Four Winds boxes get significantly changed and things stay somewhat the same. Anet if nothing else need infusions to stay below 10k so that there's no reason to use P2P trading (which is a complete scam to sell through if you're economically literate for anything valued less than ~12k, and then still arguably not worth it until like 14k) in order to help keep the economy stable.
Best case, dupers get their account values eviscerated and you save a bunch of money on the infusion you want within at most the next 2 years, but probably the next 6 months. Cancel your buy orders unless you really need it for fashion and just sit tight. There's good reason to think a change is coming.
