Noob learning the ropes
So I played HOMM 5 with a friend off and on and it was great fun but I never really went in depth with how to actually be good at the game. We usually just did silly stuff and built up big groups of T7s and saw who won/lost.
I bought olden era with the intention of actually learning how this game plays and git gud. So I have a bunch of questions I am wondering if people who don't suck like me can answer.
1: When I have multiple heros, should I:
- Make sure to use every movement point possible collecting as much resources as possible
- Prioritize having them along pathways to my cities so they can funnel troops to my main hero
2: How do you prioritize what you do/don't want on a map?
3: Is it worth venturing deep off pathways and incurring the terrain punishment if it gets in the way of getting troops to your main hero?
4: Should I Build ALL unit dwellings or prioritize the good units and leave others not built if they aren't required?
5: How long is too long to stay in the initial zone?
6: Should I get EVERY possible daily resource node or ignore ones too far off the path?
7: What subskills are "must haves" and what ones are noob traps?
8: Is it wise to town portal my main hero to get troops if it will incur a multiple day run back to where I was?
9: When using 1 stacks, should I always use the weaker units or is there value in splitting off say, stacks of Medusas or Concubines instead to get their attack bonuses?
10: Should I aim to have 7 unique units in my army, or is there value in multiple stacks of the same unit?
11: How do you decide when to use spells given mana restores slowly
All I got for now, looking forward to the answers
