It really annoys me when people pass it off as him just “doing his job” and that he’s actually the “good guy of the story”. He worked for the government, for rich men like Leviticus Cornwall, he more than likely took money to do terrible stuff for them.
He even says “We didn’t kill all them savages to allow the likes of you…” implying that he either had a helping hand in the genocide and displacement of the natives or that he at least supports it. He’s not a good man at all. He represents the 19th century American law, which we all obviously know were NOT the good guys.
