First electric guitar: Yamaha Pacifica 112V vs Ibanez GIO GSA60 – which one for a complete beginner? (other options can also be suggested)
Hi everyone,
I’m buying my first electric guitar and have narrowed it down to two options in the same price range (around $250–350):
· Yamaha Pacifica 112V (HSS, alder body)
· Ibanez GIO GSA60 (HSS, okoumé body)
I’m a total beginner with zero playing experience, so I don’t have any formed preferences yet. I’ll be playing through an audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett) into amp sims, so the guitar’s “natural” sound matters less – I’m mostly concerned about playability, build quality, and versatility for the genres I want to explore.
My main interests are:
· Rock / punk
· Nu-metal / alternative metal
· Shoegaze (so clean tones with lots of reverb/delay matter too)
I expect detailed answers with explanations of even the most basic things.
