Getting my friend into the game
Hi, everyone. I come to you seeking help to get a friend of mine into commander.
Context: I've started playing commander rather recently, mostly with a few friends who started playing just as recently. My best friend (the potential player in question) has expressed interest, but he wouldn't know where to start. This is where I'd like to source your ideas.
He has a TTRPG background and is a massive lore and worldbuilding buff. So firstly I'd like to know if there's an "Luetin of MTG", so to speak? I believe getting him into the world will make it much easier for him to get into the game.
Secondly: so far he has been playing the Tyranid precon deck, and he seemed rather happy with how it plays. From the time we played TTRPGs together he does not strike me as much of a spellslinger, nor much of a 15-piece-combo kinda guy. So I'd be interested: which commanders enable newbie-friendly (as he hasn't played any card game for the last 20 years), creature-based decks, with enough depth to become a better player with every game?
