[23M] Never dated, college dropout turned electrician. I’m finally stable and want to start dating (ideally a nerdy girl). What are my realistic chances? 👋
Context: I’m a 23-year-old guy and I’ve never been in a relationship before. To be honest, I never really thought about dating until recently. Growing up and through my teens, I was a massive nerd—obsessed with anime, manga, video games, novels, you name it.
A couple of years ago, life hit me with some reality checks. I ended up dropping out of college, but I managed to pivot and got into a blue-collar trade. I’ve been working as an electrician for the past two years now.
Up until this point, my entire focus has been on survival and self-improvement. Now that the dust has settled, I’m actually in a really good spot. I’m financially independent, emotionally stable, and I genuinely like where my life is going. Because of that, I finally feel ready to put myself out there and look for a relationship.
Ideally, I’d love to find a girl who shares some of my nerdy interests (anime, gaming, etc.), but since I have zero experience in the dating world, I’m feeling a bit anxious.
I’m wondering: how do women view guys in my position? Does being a 23-year-old college dropout working a blue-collar job with zero dating experience hurt my chances, or am I overthinking this? Any advice on how to transition from a solo nerd lifestyle into the dating scene would be highly appreciated.
