Why does Indonesian doesn't act normal with us in games?
Just in case; I'm not trying to create a fight or whatever - just a genuine question about these issues I keep having whenever I play a game that has co-op. I'm 26 this year and started to play online games when I'm 19.
I (unfortunately) started playing online games with mobile legends because I saw Valir and immediately got hooked because he reminded me of Gilgamesh from the Fate series (I used to play FGO and grew up watching/playing the series). I used to be really outgoing and always try to befriend anyone friendly to me (it's my scheme to find more people to push ranks). And you know how it goes, I'm going to run into the Indonesian who plays the game. They saw my flag and immediately tried to rage bait me, steal whatever I'm farming/kills, claim whatever Malaysian made as Indonesian. It's just when I opened my voice chat to ask them to focus in the game and realized I'm a girl, they stopped and were like "I really love upin ipin" as if that makes us win the game.
I stopped playing ML now and I thought that would be the end of it.
Wrong.
I still encounter this problem in Heartopia — a cozy game. And you guessed it, the moment they know I'm Malaysian - boom! "Nasi lemak is Indonesian" "upin ipin is Indo" and then proceeded to talk shit (at least that's how I read it in the translation features in the chat).
This is not a one time thing. It's so frequent to the point I just block them. If I see someone put an Indonesian flag on their house plot? Blocked. In Genshin where I'm barely using co-op mode and let people go to my world for farming, if I see their bio and they speak in indo or have the flag? Blocked. Same goes in HSR since they have co-op mode to get more cat cakes.
I never had this problem with fandoms where we would just argue about ship preferences at worse, but when it comes to games with co-op? I just wanna play and maybe get some help in the games I play whenever my other friends are busy. Am I the only ones who had this problem? I don't really have much irl friends who play online games like me. Most would be Roblox (which I don't play) but they only play it with their friends and family.
Tldr; Indonesians always try to fight/rage bait me in games even when I do nothing but play the game. Wonder if anyone experienced the same thing as me and had the answer why can't they act normal around us.
