Moving to Abu Dhabi - are VPNs legal? I would like to use it to watch peacock/certain shows that aren’t in the UAE. If so, what VPN is the best?

My husband and I are planning a move to Abu Dhabi from California later this year for his new job and would love some local insight.

We’re both in our early 30s, no kids, have a small dog, and I’ll be working remotely while my husband works near WTC Mall.

We’re currently looking at Reem Island and had a few questions:

1. Is Reem Island a good fit for a couple like us, or are there other neighborhoods we should consider?

2. Which apartment buildings would you recommend for a 1-2 bedroom with a budget of AED 100k-120k/year?

3. Are there any buildings or areas on Reem that you’d avoid?

4. How is the commute from Reem to the WTC area? On cooler days, can one bike?

5. Any favorite coffee shops, cafés, or coworking spaces with reliable Wi-Fi for remote work?

6. How pet-friendly is Reem/Abu Dhabi overall?

7. How easy is it to make friends as an expat in your 30s? I’ve already found a women’s run club and book club that I plan to check out, but would love to hear about people’s experiences.

8. Also, if you’ve moved to Abu Dhabi from the US, is there anything you wish you had known before making the move?
