Instagram giveaway issue — original deadline was 8 PM, later changed to 11:59 PM, and the promised prize still hasn't been delivered

I’m posting this because I genuinely want an outside opinion on whether I’m being unreasonable here.

This concerns an Instagram fragrance creator, Perfumic_Ph.D. (@perfumicph.d), and his Giveaway-3.

I am attaching screenshots of the relevant posts and DMs.

Personal information such as addresses and other private details has been hidden/redacted.

What happened

On June 13, he posted Giveaway-3 with designer perfumes.

The original giveaway rules stated:

Follow PerfumicPhD

Like, share, repost and save the reel

Comment the exact number of followers the account would have on July 15 at 8:00 PM

Participants whose guesses were closest to the actual follower count would be selected as winners

In case of a tie, the person who commented first would have the advantage

Entries closed on July 5 at 11:59 PM

I have a screenshot of the original post showing 8:00 PM.

My friend's guess was 4,500 followers.

Around the giveaway result/deadline, the account was at approximately 4,503 followers, meaning my friend's guess was only 3 followers away from the displayed count.

However, the giveaway post was subsequently edited, and the deadline in the text was changed from 8:00 PM to 11:59 PM.

I have screenshots of both versions.

What happened after the giveaway

Instead of simply rejecting my friend's claim, the creator later acknowledged the situation in DMs.

On July 26, he said:

“tell ur frnd to say hi to me ill definitely arrange one perfume for him/her. Dont worry”

He then asked:

“Give me ur complete address”

I provided the details, with the personal information redacted in the screenshots I'm posting here.

He then replied:

“Ok u will get it soon dont worry”

So at this point, he had specifically said that he would arrange a perfume and had requested the address.

Then the delays started

On July 31, I asked for an update.

He replied:

“I will update u after my mumbai visit”

On August 6, I followed up again because the promised period had passed.

He replied:

“Hehe, i forgot, karwata hu is week”

I thanked him.

On August 9, I followed up again, saying that the week was ending.

I have continued to ask for an update, but I still haven't received the promised perfume/prize.

So the timeline is basically:

June 13: Original giveaway posted — deadline stated as July 15, 8:00 PM

My friend's guess: 4,500

Follower count shown: approximately 4,503

Afterward: Giveaway post was changed to show 11:59 PM instead of 8:00 PM

July 26: Creator says he will “definitely arrange one perfume” for my friend

July 26: Requests complete address

July 26: Says “u will get it soon”

July 31: Says he'll update after his Mumbai visit

August 6: Says he forgot and will do it that week

August 9 onward: Further follow-ups

Still no prize/update

I want to be clear that I'm not trying to harass or attack the creator, and I'm not claiming to know his intentions.

I'm attaching the screenshots so people can see the evidence themselves. Personal details have been hidden/redacted for privacy.

I'd genuinely like an objective opinion from people who regularly participate in Instagram giveaways:

Is changing the stated deadline from 8:00 PM to 11:59 PM after the original deadline acceptable?

With a guess of 4,500 and a follower count around 4,503, would you consider that close enough to be a legitimate winning claim under the stated rules?

Once the organizer specifically says they will arrange a perfume and asks for the winner's address, is it reasonable to expect them to fulfill that?

At this point, should I continue waiting, or is it reasonable to ask for a clear final resolution?
