Hardwiring a dashcam in a 2026 Camry
I was about to install a hardwire kit for my 70mai dashcam in my 2026 Camry, and I randomly pulled a 5A fuse from the interior fuse box to plug the fuse tap.
Big mistake.
As soon as I removed the fuse, the car started showing warning messages on the dashboard, including the check engine light and warnings related to the electrical system/traction system. I plugged the fuse back in, but the errors were still there.
I used my cheap OBD2 scanner from Amazon, an ANCEL AD310. It did not show any stored codes, but when I pressed “erase/delete codes,” the warning messages disappeared from the dashboard too.
After that, I checked the fuse box in the engine bay. It looks like I could route the cable there pretty easily, but the fuse box is also covered underneath. I can open the top cover easily, but I am not sure how I would close everything properly after routing the hardwire cable.
So now I am thinking about using the interior fuse box instead. The problem is that it is very small and not in a convenient location. I also need to find a proper metal grounding point nearby so I can connect the black ground wire to the chassis.
Has anyone hardwired a dashcam in a 2025/2026 Camry? Which fuse did you use for ACC/constant power, and where did you connect the ground wire?
Any pictures or advice would be appreciated.
