The ignition cylinder on my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis is suddenly moving freely. With the key in the ignition and not turning it at all the car is behaving like it's in run mode (not accessory) so the turn signals and HVAC blower work and all that, but when I turn the key all the way to start, it won't engage the starter. I have removed the ignition cylinder, but I can't tell if the problem lies within it or somewhere else. Do I just need to replace my ignition cylinder at this point?
