For those who don’t believe Jesus is God, what questions make that belief difficult for you?
Hi everyone! This post isn't me trying to covert anyone nor is it meant to be a debate/discussion. I just want to gain a better understanding of why people don't believe in Jesus as God! This question is mainly for people who believe that 1.) there is a God and 2.) that Jesus was a prophet, teacher, or something other than God Himself.
I grew up Christian and still am a Christian, but recently I realized that I’ve never really challenged or deeply examined my beliefs for myself. I don’t want my faith to exist simply because it’s what I was raised. I want it to be rooted in truth, understanding, and reason, even when the questions are difficult.
Because of that, I’ve been trying to listen more carefully to perspectives outside my own. I’m not looking for a debate or arguments. I plan to take the questions and perspectives shared here and genuinely spend time studying and thinking through them. I’m just trying to learn and think more deeply.
What questions, verses, or concepts make it difficult for you to believe that Jesus is God?
For example, one question I’ve heard is: “If the Bible says God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:16), but Jesus died on the cross, how can Jesus be God?”
Again, I'm not looking for a debate. I don't have answers for your questions. I’m asking because I want to take these questions seriously, study them for myself, and use them to either strengthen and refine my faith or challenge beliefs that I’ve never properly examined before.
Thank you!
Quick edit: Thanks to everyone who's responded so far. I apologize of my questions is poorly worded and Christonormative. To clarify a bit, my question is not about if there is a God, so responses about if there is a God or not (though valid) are off topic. It's more about who believe that Jesus was an actual historical figure. All comments are welcome, but maybe this post is more geared towards those who believe in an Abrahamic religion.
