JAP 600 Vintage Engine Rebuild

Hello,

I’m rebuilding an old JAP 600 industrial engine. 1940s era, single cylinder, Amal carb.

The crank comprises several pieces. The journals have taper ends, secured with threaded end nuts.

I’ve got the crank back together and aligned it using a simple jig & laser level arrangement.

The manual states ‘the flywheels should finally be trued up between centres’

What does this mean? Some sort of lathe/machining operation?

Thanks
