TLDR: New grad RN with capstone in Labor and Delivery moving to DC. Wanting to go into midwife/ female health NP school but first gain experience as an RN in a family birth unit, wondering what the best way is to secure a position is, and best hospitals to apply to.

Hello everyone, my fiancée and I will be moving to Washington DC in July for me to attend dental school. She will be working as a Nurse while I attend college. She wants a position in family birth to gain experience towards her future midwife and NP degree. I have heard about nurse residency programs, but I'm not too familiar with them. Any recommendations towards opportunities or what specific hospitals to apply to would be greatly appreciated!
