My Geisha Smoked Baby Scallops simple dinner salad

Usually I eat these baby scallops right out of the tin. I really like them. I don’t remember how much I paid, but they’re not currently available on Amazon. And they had them listed for $60 for 12 tins. I’m pretty certain I didn’t pay that much! Tonight I tried adding them to a simple salad after I drained them.
This is a premade salad mix from a local grocery that had them 2 for 1. Some Dorothy Lynch salad dressing, my favorite, and good croutons.
The salad was great! I’m not always a big salad eater but this was delicious and so easy. Fresh salad greens, yummy baby scallops, my favorite dressing and the crunchy croutons. So fast to put together, hard to beat for a healthy light dinner.

Personal Review of Wildfish Cannery Garlic and Sumac Rockfish

I enjoyed freshly caught rockfish in CA, but I’ve not had it from a tin. This rockfish is mild, flaky and softer than expected. No fishy taste at all, just a slight sumac forward, garlic taste. Not over powering, just in the background. The fish was also fattier than I expected, maybe that’s why it’s softer. This mild tin of fish would mix well in a lot of applications.
It’s a pleasant tasting tin of fish I could eat at any time.

Broiled in butter

I stole this idea from Sardine Expedition. She then dipped these fried sardines in the runny yolk of some over-easy fried eggs. It looked Great, so I thought I’d try it. I finished up a jar of Polar Sardines, they’re great, I really enjoy their smokiness. Air fried them for 18min at 400F. These could go a little bit longer, but I didn’t want to burn them. This is my first time broiling sardines. But they are so good, I’m not bothering with the eggs LOL, maybe next time. Great crunch on the smaller thin ones. The big ones have a little bit of a tender center, which is OK, but I really enjoy the crunch. It’s a nice change of pace. These were cooked in butter and some of their natural oils that came with the jar. No salt adjustment. Found a new fun way to eat sardines!

Put a camera on my crow platform

Well, I got my crow cam up. Lots of activity.
The squirrel also found out there was no baffle on the cameras support pole, so I had to put that on there, and I had to stabilize the support pole because the breeze would make it wobble too much.
Now that I got those two things fixed it’s working perfectly and I’m recording in when I can. I can watch a live show on my phone. Should’ve done this a while ago!

Personal Review of Ati Mabel Sardines in olive oil

These were a very pleasant surprise when I first opened them. Perfect silver sided plump sardines. I always eat them directly out of the tin first time. They are mild, not at all fishy, nicely salted, perfect texture, firm without being chewy and very juicy. They were tightly packed in the tin, neatly arranged. Skin on and bone in.
Very tasty, easy to eat and hugely satisfying.
I will give these a solid 8.5/10 I’m finding I like some additional herbs or seasonings, but for having only olive oil and salt as ingredients, these are a perfect unadulterated easy eating sardine.

Personal Review of FANGST Danish Fresh Water Trout, Smoked, with Juniper and Lemon Thyme

This was very good, it’s a mild tasting tender fish where the lemon thyme comes through nicely. The juniper was a little harder to notice but it was complimenting the lemon thyme perfectly. Both flavored the oil and it was delicious! It’s in cold pressed rapeseed oil. Every thing but the fish is listed as organic.
I would gladly eat this again. I’m giving it a solid 8.5/10.

Ok, my regular crows, Hop Along and Droop brought what I believe are their 3 offspring to the feeder this morning. Smaller sleeker, handsome crew, all lined up on the branch beside each other. I was on the other side of the yard watering. I think it was mom and the 3 young ones on the branch while dad fed at the feeder. Then my regular resident red shouldered hawk swooped in and landed on this roof. Some of the crows, not sure which ones, but three of them started hassling the hawk. He didn’t look too bothered, but he didn’t stay long either.
I love nature playing out everyday in my backyard!

Every tin in the bottom row, sitting on top of the microwave, is what came in my order today.
Every tin on the shelf above is the little bit of stock tins I have left, you can see I’m really running low! 🤣 Crazy, I know!!!

I’m going Japanese! I’ve really been intrigued with their Eel and Saury so far. I’m trying a few new things and stocking up on some favorites.

I’m gonna open a tin of Old Fisherman Roasted Eel with Fermented Black Beans. It’s soooo good! I was out of those tins with the beans. I think I have enough for a couple of weeks, right? 🤪

My yard patrol is back! He’s great, he poses well. He even turned around for a few shots! Quite the showoff! 😆 He’s on the fence in my backyard by the gate. These pics are taken from inside my house through a double pane window, at 40x with AI enhancement on my iPhone 17 Pro Max. I really like the quality this feature gives these photos!

Sooo good! Very clean tasting, these are very handsome brislings in cold pressed rapeseed oil. Very easy to eat, tails not spiky, no fishy taste or smell. They remained intact while eating them. Salted perfectly. Just a pleasure to eat.

I reviewed their No. 1 yesterday with the Heather and Chamomile which I marginally prefer, but I would eat either anytime. I’m just a big fan of Chamomile. I highly recommend these and they get a solid 9.6/10. Only things I’d change is add the Chamomile and Heather? and maybe switch to EVOO. But for a purist, these are perfect!

Go great with a nice white wine too! 😁

I really enjoyed these Brislings. They had the tails on but weren’t spiky at all. The flesh was firm and tasty. Absolutely no fishy smell or taste.

But what really impressed me was the Heather and Chamomile flavors in the oil, with Chamomile taking a slight lead. There’s a very nice hint of smoke too. It was sooo good with a hint of freshness and an almost herbaceous sweetness in every bite with the perfect amount of salt to enhance flavors. These are probably the easiest to eat and most enjoyable brislings I’ve had so far.

I have never had this combination before, I didn’t know what to expect, but I love Chamomile tea so I tried it and am very glad I did. I will definitely reorder these and make them one of my go to tins. I rank them 10/10! I don’t know how they could get better!

This is one of the great joys of exploring different tinned fish! I heartily recommend these!

I have double checked that this does not have to be mixed with other food to be edible! 😆 This is tuna in olive oil and a mere 478mg of salt.

This is good. Most tuna I do not eat right out of the tin, I usually make tuna salad. But this is a new brand and I like to get an unadulterated taste first. This tuna is superior to the grocery store tuna I usually get. It’s moist and very mild with almost no fishy smell or taste. It has only salt in it so is a typical tuna flavor. It is firm and flakes easily. This would be a great product to mix up whatever preparation you wanted. I will finish eating it plain out of the tin this time as there’s not much left, but it’s not my first choice to be eaten directly out of the tin, but I might add some lemon on these last couple of bites.

My personal rating of this tuna is 8.5/10. I hope that doesn’t upset anyone like my last rating did. 🤔
