When it comes to music biopics and movie musicals in Gral : do you care more for great music and musical numbers all around or story and plot ?

the ideal would be having a great balance of both. I think Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Wicked and the animated beauty and the Beast are the best examples of this case.

however if I have to choose one I prefer great music and musical numbers. that’s why I prefer Michael and Bohemian Rhapsody over Elvis, a Better Man and Rocketman.

the same with Musicals I prefer The Greatest Showman over LaLa Land. Or I prefer Frozen over tangled.

though Frozen still has a really solid plot or story. The soundtrack do overpower the story but too much. Otherwise the critics would have murmured that one.

people hate the critics when they don’t agree with their musical preferences but I’ve noticed they just favor story over music.

if Frozen had the awful paper thin story of the greatest showman it would have failed but the story was solid enough to not look too much as style over substance.

it’s not like in the Greatest Showman where the story I admit is paper thin like I barley remember what it’s about.

my mom on the other hand who also enjoys musicals she is more story driven. She prefers a good story

Is it just me or it’s easier to accept the negative Wicked for Good reviews from critics and YouTubers who have seen the show.

i think all opinions are valid and I don’t go nuts if someone doesn’t like a movie I did enjoy, i actually usually appreciate negative reviews because they help learn being more critical and see films from different angles.

I recently loved the films Michael and Mario Galaxy but I find it childish how many fans got mad critics for not liking those films. some of those had really good points against them but I still enjoyed them.

anyway I digress… ughh sorry i always go out of topic.

going back to wicked I strangely get more into the neg reviews from critics and YouTubers who have seen the show even if it’s just a slime than from critics who haven’t seen the show.

however those critics have a great point as well movies should stand on their own. audiences shouldn‘t do homework lol 😂

but on the other hand im tired of hearing from the YouTubers who never saw the show go on the same complains over and over…

the songs are not so fun anymore, no more cool books choreographies, only ballads or omg the cat fight was too campy. critics and YouTubers who saw the play skip on this BS….

Is there any director who isn't considered a musical director that you like to see trying to do one ?

for me that one is guy Richie. he already did Aladdin but while it was great he was tied hands on that one.

I would like for him to have his own sort of west side story. a musical of his very own style.

maybe do his own My fair lady or Sound of Music.

NOTE : part 2 is looking With less girls than expected.

The thing is i was skipping Tiffsny Haas in part one due to the Glinda wiki page said she was just temporary and i took Kara to the first poll .

Now like Jackie burns she repeated in the second half of the 2010s but uts not fair to put her name in two polls so i now had to add Tiffany for part 2

to the person here who did Best Lion King thread i apologize.

i stole your thread idea. I loved your thread and got inspired to do mine.

so here I ask which is the best Frozen Musical movie or Stage Show ?

i really loved both but im gonna go with the Movie just by how amazing is the let it go sequence with Elsa creating her castle and the creation of her new dress.

plus it has Idina Menzel in the Voice cast.

it’s almost a tie for me but i choose the Movie
